Hardware Design Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Research, plan, design, develop and test printed circuit boards under various bus architectures

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electronic/Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • 3-5 years electrical/electronics design experience
  • Familiar with serial communication and PC-based CAD tools, as well as, knowledgeable in VDHL and ADHL languages, embedded processors, network protocols, DSP and FPGA
  • Working knowledge of  PCI, PCI Express, PC/104 and PCI-104 interface boards

Skills and Responsibilities:

  • Capable of disciplined work and assume technical and project leadership accountability for completion within design, budget and schedule limitations

  • Able to prepare detailed written plans, calculations, designs, specifications and material lists.

  • Experience with the design, layout and debugging of PCBs

  • Perform detailed studies, experiments, research and test during the development of products, systems and services.

  • Communicate with customers and suppliers to ensure design and performance specifications are well defined.

Purchasing Agent

Responsibilities:

  • Procure quality components for our product, at a reasonable cost and in a timely manner in order to maintain production schedules. Strong business insight with superior negotiation an interpersonal skills required.

Education and Experience:

  • 3-5 years purchasing experience within the electronic component sector
  • Degree or diploma in Business, Materials Management or a relevant discipline
  • PMAC certification is preferred, but not required

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Purchase electronic components, packaging, office supplies, shipping forms etc.

  • Prepare purchase orders and maintain records

  • Expedite shipments

  • Source alternate materials, new parts and suppliers

  • Request samples for prototype builds

  • Return defective materials

  • Reconcile invoice discrepancies

  • Prepare cost analyses for sales and management approval

  • Create and enter product labels in database

  • Create, enter and maintain worksheet/bill of material forms

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

  • Familiar with computerized inventory management systems; ideally Navision Business Solutions is an asset

Electronics Assembler/Repair Technician

Responsibilities:

  • Perform assembly or modification tasks on electronic components, including assemblies, disassemblies, modifications, reworks and repairs.  Soldering, diagnosis, testing and inspection of printed circuit boards is also required.

Education and Experience:

  • Engineering Technician/Technologist college diploma and 2-4 years related experience
  • Experience with electronic assembly, fine-tip hand soldering touch up and rework of printed circuit boards using surface mount technology and through-hole components is critical
  • Training and experience in ESD procedures and operation of essential tools including microscope and soldering iron is crucial

Skills:

To qualify, the candidate must have strong PCB assembly skills and be able to work from a BOM and/or schematic to IPC 600/610 workmanship standards. Strong English language comprehension is a must as is dexterity for working with small components. Must be able to follow direction and have good interpersonal communication skills.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Electronic assembly

  • Modification, wiring and hand soldering of printed circuit boards

  • Soldering of PCBs, including rework and modification

  • Soldering surface mount components and through-hole devices

  • Dexterity for working with small components is essential
