In 1985, Connect Tech established itself as an innovator in the industry by designing the EMU 7700/7800, a complete hardware and software package enabling ISA bus compatible computers to emulate a synchronous Honeywell VIP display terminal.

Since then, Connect Tech has been busy with the development of multi-port serial boards for PCI, PCI Express, PCI/104-Express, CompactPCI, PC/104 and PC/104-Plus. More recently solid state drives, CAN controller boards, Ethernet-to-serial devices, wireless radio modems and reconfigurable FPGA & digital I/O products have become the focus of attention for Connect Tech.

With over 20 years experience, the innovative spirit is still strong, ensuring Connect Tech maintains its well-earned reputation for delivering reliable, high-quality products.

The following provides a glimpse of some of Connect Tech's design highlights over the years.

May 2009 Connect Tech introduces a PC/104-Plus solution for CAN bus applications CANpro/104-Plus Opto features 3kV optical isolation protection and memory mapping to free up valuable I/O space and provide greater flexibility in design.
September 2008 A synchronous version of our Blue Heat/Net Ethernet-to-serial product family is added to our list of product offerings. Blue Heat/Net Sync can be programmed with application specific protocols and incorporates multiple electrical interfaces with remote configurability to free devices from a physical connection.
September 2008 Connect Tech expands its ComSync product line to include a PCI-104 platform option for synchronous/asynchronous communications. ComSync/PCI-104 is a multi-protocol, two channel serial card based on the Zilog Z16C32 IUSC.  It incorporates a high performance PCI bridge and an FPGA to coordinate all onboard data flow. ComSync/PCI-104 supports seven software programmable electrical interfaces.
April 2008 Xtreme/104-Express is developed; the industry's first serial board designed in support of the recently adopted PCI/104-Express specification.  Xtreme/104-Express offers a communication solution that boasts high data rates, rugged reliability and long term sustainability.
April 2008 In support of the new PCI/104-Express specification, Connect Tech designed a PCI Express to PCI/104-Express adapter board that enables users to install either a PCIe/104 or a PCI/104-Express card into a standard PCI Express system slot.
February 2008 CANpro/104 Opto is introduced.  CANpro/104 Opto combines the power of two NXP SJA1000 CAN controllers with the compact size and rugged stability of PC/104.
February 2008 Connect Tech's BlueStorm/Express product family extends with the addition of BlueStorm/Express LP BlueStorm/Express LP offers a low profile option for PCI Express applications.
February 2008 A 16 port Ethernet-to-serial solution is added to Connect Tech's Blue Heat/Net product line with the introduction of Blue Heat/Net 16.
December 2007 An extension of Connect Tech's PCI Express product family, the BlueStorm/Express LP Opto offers a low profile solution for your PCI Express applications and includes 3kV optical isolation.
November 2007 In response to a customer specific request, Connect Tech designs BlueStorm/Express Opto (1kV).  This PCI Express card offers multi-strike surge suppression on four of eight ports and 1 kV optical isolation on the remaining four ports.
November 2007 Connect Tech's BlueStorm/SP RJ-11 Universal PCI board is introduced.  BlueStorm/SP RJ-11 eliminates the need for external power supplies as the power is provided on six RJ-11 ports. Two DB-9 connectors are also accessible via an optional cable assembly.
September 2007 3 kV optical isolation is added to Connect Tech's PCI Express product line with the addition of BlueStorm/Express Opto.  
September 2007 Connect Tech introduces FreeForm/PCI-104, a flexible reconfigurable board that combines a user programmable FPGA (Virtex-5) with a 32-Bit, 33MHz PCI-104 interface for system development.
August 2007 Connect Tech designs a robust, drop-in replacement for magnetic hard drives.  FlashDrive/104 is a flash based, solid-state drive designed using the latest NAND technology with no moving parts and resistance to mechanical failures and corruption caused by shock or vibration.
July 2007 Connect Tech's robust Xtreme/104-Plus product family presents Xtreme/104-Plus Opto; a 3 kV optically isolated board on a rugged and compact form factor for your critical applications.
April 2007 In response to the recent EOL of Blue Heat/PCI, Connect Tech introduces BlueStorm/SP; a standard profile Universal PCI card that offers the advantage of compatibility with both 3.3V and 5V systems.
March 2007 BlueStorm/SP Opto is added to Connect Tech's product line.  BlueStorm/SP Opto is a Universal PCI card that offers the added protection of 3 kV optical isolation for your critical applications. (Replaces the Blue Heat/PCI Opto due to recent EOL of the product).
November 2006 Connect Tech develops a way to enable the burn-in of up to ten PCI Express cards simultaneously without the need for a dedicated computer system with the addition of the PCI Express Burn-in Rack.
October 2006 FreeForm/104 is launched.  FreeForm/104 is a PC/104 based board that features a reconfigurable FPGA for digital I/O and control applications.
Based on the Xilinx Spartan 3E FPGA, this board provides off-the-shelf flexibility, making it ideal for high speed, compute-intensive, reconfigurable applications.
October 2006 A convenient adapter board that allows PMC cards to be easily incorporated into existing PCI-104 stacks is added to Connect Tech's list of products. The PCI-104 to PMC adapter includes signal multiplexing circuits, allowing multiple PMC cards to operate in a PCI-104 stack simultaneously.
July 2006 Connect Tech announces 9-Bit data support for PC/104-Plus with Titan/104-Plus. The Titan/104-Plus combines the best in performance and design of full sized PCI bus devices with the rugged and compact form factor of PC/104.
June 2006 BlueStorm/Express marks Connect Tech's first PCI Express serial board. Available with 2, 4, 8 or 16 ports, BlueStorm/Express offers a robust, high performance, high speed communications solution for point of sale/retail applications, transportation stations, lottery terminals, automated teller machines and self-service kiosks, among others.
March 2006 The PCI Dump Switch card is developed.  This convenient development tool is essential hardware for the system of every developer working on programs such as device drivers or interrupt handlers because it eliminates the guess work needed to debug the cause of system hang.
February 2006 Connect Tech adds wireless radio modems to its long line of reliable communications equipment. Available in 900 MHz and 2.4 GHz frequencies, Xtreme/104 Radio Modem cards will add robust wireless data communications to your PC/104 applications.
November 2005 The PC/104-Plus to Mini PCI adapter is designed to aid developers by enabling them to mount a Mini PCI card into a standard 3.3 or 5V PC/104-Plus stack.
October 2005 A PCI to CompactPCI adapter is added to Connect Tech's engineering tools.  The passive extender card allows developers to mount a CompactPCI card in a standard Universal 3.3V or 5V PCI system so that a dedicated CompactPCI system is not necessary for development work.
October 2005 Connect Tech designs a convenient extender card that allows developers to mount an 8 or 16-bit  PC/104 card into a standard ISA bus PC system, without the need for a dedicated PC/104 stack.  Introducing our new ISA to PC/104 adapter.
August 2005 An extender card that allows developers to mount a PCI-104 or PC/104-Plus module into a standard Universal PCI slot is released. The stack-through connectors on the PCI to PC/104-Plus adapter card enable probing on the front or back of the test card.
May 2005 Connect Tech introduces Blue Heat/Net 2; a new two port Ethernet-to-serial device, featuring options such as extended temperature range (-40°C to 85°C), Power over Ethernet (PoE) and industrial protocols. 
September 2004 Connect Tech introduces the Xtreme/104-Plus - a serial adapter combining the best of CTI’s Universal PCI and PC/104 product lines. The Xtreme/104-Plus incorporates the stackable, compact form factor of PC/104 with the rapid data transfer speeds of PCI.
May 2004 The Blue Heat/Net is introduced.  This Ethernet-to-serial device will network enable any standard serial device and can connect anywhere around the world. Blue Heat/Net allows equipment to be monitored remotely over a LAN or the World Wide Web.
February 2004 Connect Tech announces an industry first; a 12 port, PC/104 serial adapter that is as efficient in throughput and performance as it is in saving space.  The Xtreme/104 Isolated includes eight switchable RS-232/422/485 ports and four dedicated RS-232 ports on one small PC/104 form factor with the added protection of 1kV peak to peak electrical isolation.
November 2003 Connect Tech introduces Echo/ISA; an eight port, drop in replacement for the DFlex product line, which has recently undergone EOL.
September 2003 The BlueStorm/LP is Connect Tech's first low profile adapter. Built for PCI systems, it offers the space saving qualities of an MD1 low profile design without sacrificing performance.
September 2002 The Universal Blue Heat/PCI RS-485 is introduced as a natural  evolution of the Blue Heat product line. Compliant with all conventional PCI specifications, it supports both 5V and 3.3V systems.
April 2002 The ComSync/104 offers two channels of synchronous or asynchronous communications for the PC/104 bus. A choice of seven programmable electrical interfaces adds flexibility.

The Titan/cPCI, with two or four ports of jumper selectable RS-232 or RS-485 interface, marks Connect Tech's entrance into the CompactPCI marketplace.
 
 
 
An upgrade to the Intellicon-NT960, the NT960/PCI offers 16 to 128 ports of PCI bus Intelligent serial I/O with RS-232/485 and 20mA Current Loop support.
 
  The Blue Heat/PCI series adds an adapter featuring eight ports of 20mA Current Loop interface. Introducing Blue Heat/PCI CL!
 
  The Xtreme/104 family continues to grow with the introduction of optical isolation on two or four jumper selectable RS-232 or RS-422/485 serial ports. Introducing Xtreme/104 Opto!
2000 The Blue Heat/PCI Opto adapter is released and offers two or four asynchronous RS-232/RS-485 serial ports with optical isolation.
 
  The Blue Heat/PCI gets powered up with the addition of this RJ-11 version; Blue Heat/PCI RJ-11. It offers eight asynchronous RS-232 serial ports.
 
  Connect Tech announces the addition of Xtreme/104; an eight port, jumper selectable RS-232/422/485 card for the PC/104 bus.

Connect Tech adds support for the RS-422/485 interface to the Blue Heat/PCI product line. Available in two, four and eight ports, it supports high speed transmission rates up to 921.6 K baud and has a fully featured RS-485 interface.

The WhiteHEAT/USB brings a revolution in multi-port serial communications to USB bus compatible computers. The WhiteHEAT/USB is a four port RS-232 serial to USB adapter.
1998




New features are added to the DFlex-4/104, including a 16654 quad UART and more flexible interrupt options. The DFlex-4/104 provides multiple electrical line interfaces -- RS-232, RS-422/485, RS-423, 20 mA Current Loop -- on Serial Line Interface Modules (SLIM).

The Blue Heat/PCI family grows to include two and four port RS-232 serial adapters with 16C654 quad UARTS for PCI bus compatible computers. The 16C654 quad UART provides 64 bytes of FIFO buffering per port.
1997 The Blue Heat/PCI-8 is an eight port RS-232 serial adapter with ST16C654 quad UARTs for PCI bus compatible computers. The ST16C654 quad UART provides 64 bytes of FIFO buffering per port. The Blue Heat/PCI series provides high speed data transmission rates up to 1382.4K baud.

The DFlex/Fast offers standard two and four port serial adapters for ISA bus compatible computers with 16650 and 16750 UARTS. The 16650 UART provides 32 bytes of FIFO buffering per port and the 16750 UART provides 64 bytes of FIFO buffering per port. The DFlex/Fast series provides high speed circuitry that supplies data transmission rates up to 460K baud, and supports multiple electrical line interfaces -- RS-232, RS-422/485, RS-423, 20mA Current Loop -- on Serial Line Interface Modules (SLIM).

The original DFlex is introduced, offering standard two, four, and eight port serial adapters for ISA bus compatible computers with 16650 and 16750 UARTS. The 16650 UART provides 32 bytes of FIFO buffering per port and the 16750 UART provides 64 bytes of FIFO buffering per port. The DFlex series provides multiple electrical line interfaces -- RS-232, RS-422/485, RS-423, and 20mA Current Loop -- on Serial Line Interface Modules (SLIM).

Connect Tech becomes the first company to offer a non-intelligent multi-port serial adapter for the PC/104 that is able to run multiple electrical interfaces on the same adapter at the same time with the release of the DFlex-4/104. A standard four port serial adapter for PC/104 compatible computers, the DFlex-4/104 provides multiple electrical line interfaces -- RS-232, RS-422/485, RS-423, 20 mA Current Loop -- on Serial Line Interface Modules (SLIM).

Connect Tech is the first to offer a high performance intelligent multi-port serial adapter able to run multiple electrical interfaces on the same adapter at the same time with the ACM/Flex16. An asynchronous communications module for the Intellicon-NT960 subsystem, the ACM/Flex16 is a 16 port module that offers RS-232, RS-422/485 and 20 mA Current Loop Serial Line Interface Modules (SLIM).
1993 The Intellicon-8 is unveiled, an intelligent eight port RS-232 and RS-422/485 serial adapter for ISA bus compatible computers.

Connect Tech becomes one of the first companies to design an intelligent multi-port serial adapter utilizing a RISC processor with the Intellicon-NT960 and ACM16, a high performance 16 to 128 port serial communications subsystem for ISA bus compatible computers. The Intellicon-NT960 and ACM16 utilize the i960 RISC processor and CD1400 RISC-like UARTs to achieve baud rates up to 115 Kbps, with maximum throughput.

The Intellicon-MC6+2, an intelligent eight port RS-232and RS-422/485 serial adapter for the Micro Channel or bus compatible computers, is designed.

The Intellicon-Sync2 follows, offering an intelligent two port RS-232 synchronous serial adapter for ISA bus compatible computers.

Offering two, four and eight port serial adapters for ISA bus compatible computers, the DFlex series provides multiple electrical line interfaces -- RS-232, RS-422/485, RS-423, and 20mA Current Loop -- on Serial Line Interface Modules (SLIM).
1989 Connect Tech becomes the first company to offer an intelligent multi-port serial adapter able to run multiple electrical interfaces on the same adapter at the same time with the Intellicon Flex-8, an intelligent eight port serial adapter for PC/XT/AT or compatibles. The Intellicon Flex-8 provides multiple electrical line interfaces -- RS-232, RS-422/485, RS-423, and 20mA Current Loop -- on Serial Line Interface Modules (SLIM).

Building on the design of the original, the Intellicon-2/-4 is produced, offering intelligent two and four port RS-232 and RS-422/485 serial adapters for ISA bus compatible computers.

The Intellicon-MC8 follows, providing an intelligent eight port RS-232 serial adapter for the Micro Channel or compatibles.
1987 With the introduction of the Intellicon-8, Connect Tech becomes one of the first companies to offer this adapter option to the personal computer marketplace. An intelligent eight port RS-232 serial adapter for PC/XT/AT or compatibles, it offers drivers for QNX, XENIX, UNIX, DOS, and PC-MOS/386.
1986 The ComSync, a synchronous serial adapter for ISA bus compatible computers supporting Bisync, HDLC, SDLC and X.25 protocols, is developed.
