Connect Tech introduces a 12 port PC/104 board with Electrical Isolation
New serial port adapter used in Bluefin Robotics Corp.'s newest AUV

Connect Tech Inc., designer and manufacturer of multi-port serial adapters, has designed an
industry first: a 12 port, PC/104 serial adapter that is as efficient in throughput and performance as
it is in saving space.
Connect Tech's
customization
engineers teamed with Bluefin Robotic Corp.'s designers to try and accommodate Bluefin's new 9-inch
diameter shallow water AUV (Autonomous Underwater Vehicle). The
Xtreme/104 Isolated was designed to
greatly reduce the size of the PC/104 stack already in use in Bluefin's larger vehicles, which
normally house three of Connect Tech's four-port Xtreme/104 Optos.
The adapter includes eight switchable RS-232/422/485 ports and four
dedicated RS-232 ports on one small PC/104 form factor. The Xtreme/104 Isolated offers support for all
three RS-485 modes; full duplex, half duplex and multi-drop.
The Xtreme/104 Isolated data transfer rates up to 460.8 Kbps (RS-422/485) and
115.2 Kbps (RS-232). Each port is electrically isolated from one another, and from the board, using
the latest in electrical isolation technology, providing 1 kV AC peak to peak protection.
