FPGA and Digital I/O

FPGA

Field-programmable gate arrays (FPGA's) are devices that contain programmable logic and interconnects.  Incorporating FPGA's into the design of Connect Tech's circuit boards ensures that users are able to program or configure boards to perform basic logic gate functions such as AND and/or XOR, as well as, more complex combinational functions such as decoders.

Since FPGA's are field-programmable their advantages include; a shorter time to market, the ability to re-program in the field at run-time and lower non-recurring engineering costs.  Connect Tech's reconfigurable FPGA boards feature the Xilinx Virtex-5 and Spartan-3E FPGAs.

Digital I/O

Digital I/O is generally used for the measuring or generating of digital values in various applications. Most commonly used in laboratory testing, production testing and industrial process monitoring and control, Connect Tech's digital I/O products can read from or write to a line or an entire digital port.

FreeForm

FreeForm/104 and FreeForm/PCI-104 products feature a reconfigurable FPGA for digital I/O and control applications.

Based on Xilinx’s Spartan 3E and Virtex-5, Connect Tech’s FreeForm product family provides off-the-shelf flexibility for your high speed, compute-intensive, reconfigurable applications.
Customized FPGA configurations can be developed easily by the user with Xilinx’s free ISE WebPACK software, or through Connect Tech’s engineering services.
